$3 Million for a powerline to deliver renewable energy

It’s no secret that we have invested in renewable power such as our wind projects in North Dakota. We plan to add hundreds of megawatts of wind-generated electricity from this region over the next several years. In order to get that power from the plains of North Dakota to our customers, we are purchasing an existing high-voltage transmission line that connects our system with this wind rich region. Purchasing this line is significantly less expensive than building a new one and it is an important part of our renewable efforts.

Once the purchase receives regulatory approval, we will need to cover maintenance expenses and investment costs that come with adding the line to our portfolio. For our customers, this investment will further ensure we are able to meet the renewable power commitments that are a part of our system’s future.
